Which A313 Product Should You Start With? A Beginner's Guide to the Range

If you are new to vitamin A, the A313 range can look like a lot at once: a face cream in a tube, a pump-bottle anti-wrinkle cream, an eye serum and a body cream. It is tempting to buy everything and start the same evening. For most beginners, that is the one thing worth avoiding.

Why one product is the best place to start

Vitamin A skincare usually comes with an adjustment period. In the first weeks, some people notice dryness, light flaking or a tingling feeling while their skin gets used to it. If you start with one product, you learn how your skin responds and you know exactly what to adjust. If you start with three at once and your skin feels tight, you cannot tell which one is responsible.

Before your first full application, a short patch test is a sensible extra step.

Match your first product to your main concern

Ask yourself which area you most want to care for, then start there:

  • Your face in general (texture, fine lines, an even-looking complexion): the A313 Cream with Retinol & Vitamin A is the best-known product in the range and the natural first choice for most people. It comes in a tube, and a small amount covers the whole face.
  • Your face, if your skin tends to feel dry or you prefer a lighter, moisturising texture: the A313 Anti-Wrinkle Moisturizing Face Cream combines vitamin A with a hydrating cream base in a pump bottle. For many people it can take the place of a separate night cream.
  • The eye area: the A313 Eye Serum (15 ml) is made for the thinner skin around the eyes. If the eye area is your only concern, you can start here. If you also want to care for your face, many beginners start with a face cream and add the Eye Serum a few weeks later.
  • Your body (arms, thighs, décolleté): the A313 Body Lifting Cream pairs vitamin A with caffeine and pea (Pisum sativum) extract, ingredients used in body care to help support skin that feels firmer and more toned.

When to add a second product

Once your first product has felt comfortable for around four to six weeks, you can add another, one at a time. Leave a couple of weeks before adding a third, so you can still tell how each one suits you. If you already know you would like to use several products from the range, the A313 Complete Skincare Set brings them together, but it still makes sense to introduce them one by one.

How to use your first A313 product

  • Use it in the evening, on clean and completely dry skin.
  • Start two or three evenings a week, and build up slowly if your skin stays comfortable.
  • Use a small amount: a pea-sized amount of the tube cream or one pump of the Anti-Wrinkle Cream for the whole face, a rice-grain amount of Eye Serum for both eyes, a thin layer of the Body Lifting Cream.
  • Keep face products away from the lash line, lips and corners of the nose.
  • On the other evenings, use a plain moisturiser, and avoid other retinoids or exfoliating acids on the same night.
  • Apply a broad-spectrum SPF every morning.

When to ask for advice

Talk to a pharmacist or skincare professional before starting any vitamin A product if you have very sensitive or reactive skin, eczema or rosacea; if you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding; or if you use prescribed skin treatments, including prescription retinoids. Stop using the product and ask for advice if you notice persistent redness, swelling, burning or a rash.

There is no single right product for every beginner, only the right first step for you. Choose the area that matters most, start with one product, and give your skin time to get used to it before you build your routine further.
